PAYE Payments – New HMRC Rules Regarding Penalties For 2010 - 11
From tax year 2010-11 HMRC may charge penalties if PAYE is paid late. This means you may have to pay a penalty if you do not make PAYE payments on time and in full from May 2010. The new late payment penalties will apply to all employers.

Payroll Online Filing Reminder
If you are a small employer, with fewer than 50 employees, you will need to start thinking about yearend filing for 2009/10. This year is the first time that you must file your Employer Annual Return (P35 and accompanying P14s) online by 19 May. Employers with more than 50 employees should already be submitting their annual returns online.

Chiene + Tait issue online VAT filing advice
You may be aware that the Government is moving forward with the plan to implement online filing for most business tax returns. The next phase of this is to require businesses to file their VAT returns online from April next year. This requirement will apply to all businesses with annual turnover of more than £100,000. Smaller businesses will retain the right to file paper returns, but this will be reviewed by HMRC in the run up to 2012 – the date by which HMRC services should be wholly online.
